Ashurst M&A Year In Review 2018

Australia has been a particularly active market for M&A in 2018, ranked second in the Asia-Pacific region based on number and value of deals. Japanese companies have continued to find opportunities to acquire targets across a broad range of sectors including real estate, construction, financial services, consumer goods and services, human resources, industrials, mining and energy. These deals have been assessed, negotiated and entered into against the backdrop of the Banking Royal Commission, which has highlighted the impact of reputation, compliance and regulatory change on business value, which has implications beyond the financial services sector.

This year's M&A Year in Review will feature reflections from the ANZCCJ and Austrade on recent and upcoming areas to watch in the Japan Australia relationship, and a panel of deal-makers from Ashurst's M&A team in Tokyo and Australia and Deloitte's Australia’s M&A and Japanese Services teams who will share their insights from recent transactions.
