On the 15 September 2020, Yoshihide Suga was elected Prime Minister of Japan, after the sudden resignation of his predecessor Shinzo Abe – Japan’s longest serving Prime Minister. After nearly 8 years of political stability under Abe, how will Japan’s new leader influence the political climate in Japan during this turbulent time, and what impact is he likely to have on Australia-Japan relations?
