ANZCCJ are pleased to support AustCham Korea in welcoming you to 'South Australia: Hydrogen Export Opportunities'. This event is held in the lead up to the launch of ANZCCJ's new Sustainability Committee, with further details of Committee activities to be announced.
In exploring new opportunities for stronger collaboration between South Australia, South Korea and Japan, this hydrogen-themed session will feature an update from senior representatives of the South Australian government, while providing a platform for attendees to gain a comprehensive overview of the S.A government's new Hydrogen Export Modelling Tool.
The session will include presentations by the KPMG Australia team in charge of the Hydrogen Export Modelling Tool project, Richard Day, Director Strategy, Policy and Communications Growth and Low Carbon Division, Department for Energy and Mining, and Edit Mucsi, Business Development Manager (Fuels & Hydrogen), Department of Trade & Investment.
During the event, we encourage you to access the Hydrogen Export Modelling Tool (HEMT) for yourself while its functions are explained. If you wish to do so, please access the tool here before the event begins and register with your name and email address to receive the login details. (Note: access to the HEMT is free of charge)
Date: Tuesday 25 May, 2021
Time: 11:30 - 12:30 JST
- Mr. Richard Day - Director Strategy, Policy and Communications, Growth and Low Carbon Division, South Australia Department for Energy and Mining
- Ms. Edit Mucsi - Business Development Manager (Fuels and Hydrogen), South Australia Department of Trade and Investment
About the Hydrogen Export Modelling Tool
As a key measure under South Australia's Hydrogen Action Plan released by the South Australian Government in September 2019, AUD$1.25 million (ex GST) was committed to complete a hydrogen export pre-feasibility study and produce an online modelling tool and prospectus to inform the establishment of an international-scale clean hydrogen export value chain.
The Study examined locations for hydrogen production and export, volume of supply, the needs of potential hydrogen supply chain infrastructure and the costs associated with developing a commercial-scale hydrogen export industry within South Australia. Its findings are outlined in the Prospectus and underpin the design of the Tool.
The Tool is an important resource that will help to facilitate clean hydrogen investment into South Australia. It provides an indicative view of the hydrogen export supply chain configurations that are possible by leveraging the excellent resources in South Australia.
Users are able explore South Australia's hydrogen potential, selecting different factors such as demand volumes, production technologies and export terminals, to result in a final free-on-board cost of clean hydrogen from South Australia as well as the associated capital, operating and financing costs to achieve it.

Mr. Richard Day - Richard joined the South Australian Government in 2001 and since that time has worked across the energy, climate change, industry development and low carbon economy portfolios.
He currently heads up a Directorate within the Department of Energy and Mining that is charged with capturing the economic growth and decarbonisation opportunities associated with South Australia’s clean energy transformation towards net 100% renewables, as well as sharing this story with the world.
Richard has spearheaded the development of SA’s Hydrogen Roadmap, Hydrogen Action Plan, Hydrogen Export Modelling Tool, and overseen the development of the State’s Electric Vehicle Action Plan. He is passionate about opportunities to further grow and attract energy intensive value-added industries to SA.
Ms. Edit Mucsi - Edit joined the South Australian Government in 2017 and since February 2020 she is leading the Hydrogen and Fuels subsector in the Department for Trade and Investment.
She was a contributor to South Australia’s Hydrogen Roadmap (2017), South Australia’s Hydrogen Action Plan (2019) and South Australia’s Hydrogen Potential – Prospectus and Hydrogen Export Modelling tool (2020). Edit had significant involvement to the “industrial workstream’ in the development of Australia’s National Hydrogen Strategy given her 10+ years European experiences in the Oil & Gas industry.
Edit is the focal point for international project developers, investors and potential off-takers to discuss hydrogen opportunities in South Australia. Her current focus is attracting foreign investments, developing hydrogen export strategies and supporting trade agreements.
