ANZCCJ Gourmet Food and Wine Garden Party 2015

Event Summary

On 15 September, the Australian and New Zealand Chamber of Commerce in Japan (ANZCCJ) and the Tokyo Chamber of Commerce and Industry (TCCI) hosted the Chambers' annual Gourmet Food and Wine Garden Party at the Australian Embassy Tokyo.  Over 300 guests from the food and beverage industry, media, Chamber members and their colleagues were treated to 18 different gourmet products exhibited by 21 companies currently importing Australian and New Zealand Gourmet products into market.

This year's Garden Party was a true showcase of the diversity of premium Australian and New Zealand food and beverage available in Japan.  Among the premium products exhibited were beef, oysters, beer, nuts, coffee, olive oil, tea, cheese, honey, from Australia; and lamb, clams, cheese, wine, honey, and cookies from New Zealand. For the full exhibitor list, see below.

The party was divided into two sessions. The first session attracted 65 guests from the media, retail and foodservice sectors and included presentations by Austrade and NZTE on their food promotion programs for the Japanese market.  The guests then proceeded to a tasting tour of the booths in the Embassy garden.  This exclusive tasting session allowed exhibitors to promote their companies and products to this targeted group of guests.  The second session was the reception, open to all Chamber members and their friends.

For the first time in the history of this event, the Chamber held a friendly exhibitor competition. Mystery shoppers visited each of the 21 booths throughout the evening and judged each exhibitor based on the following criteria:

  •   Visual appeal of the booth
  •   Product taste and display
  •   Creativity
  •   Service quality

The proud winner of the “ANZCCJ Gourmet Food and Garden Party Best Exhibitor Award” was Harnet Corporation for their elegant showcase of Australian oysters and New Zealand clams.  Congratulations, Frank Hart!
