Yesterday, as part of his first international tour as Western Australian Premier, The Hon Mark McGowan MLA addressed a select group of ANZCCJ members and guests at a lunch hosted by ANZCCJ at the Roppongi Hills Club in Tokyo.
Premier McGowan, accompanied by his wife Ms Sarah McGowan and a delegation from the Western Australian Government, said he had visited Japan on three prior occasions and expressed the love both he and his wife have for the country. During his address, Premier McGowan touched on the strength of the bond between Japan and Western Australia, including resources trade since the 1960s, agricultural exports, tourism and direct investment.
He also highlighted opportunities for Western Australian businesses in Japan as well as for Japanese business in Western Australia, including leveraging the world-class aluminium manufacturing in Western Australia, expanding agricultural exports and the mutual benefits of an increase in tourism and hospitality both in Western Australia and Japan.
The Premier and his delegation will be in Japan until Sunday and will travel to Kobe in Hyogo Prefecture, Sister State of Western Australia for almost 36 years, later this week.
ANZCCJ would like to thank Premier McGowan for taking time out of his busy schedule to offer a candid address to our members and for sharing his knowledge and insights.
