The Australian and New Zealand Chamber of Commerce in Japan (ANZCCJ), the American Chamber of Commerce in Japan (ACCJ), the British Chamber of Commerce in Japan (BCCJ) and the European Business Council (EBC) have closely followed the policies of Japan’s immigration authorities regarding the (re-)entry of non-Japanese nationals during the COVID-19 crisis. Despite positive changes to allow entry into Japan under specific circumstances, many long-term residents of Japan are still not permitted to enter the country.
The ANZCCJ, ACCJ, BCCJ and EBC wish to express our support for the foreign resident communities of Japan. Together we have released a statement expressing our ongoing concerns regarding the restricted entry of foreign residents. We request that the current entry policies be changed to reflect Japan's values of fair and equal treatment for all, allowing foreign residents to re-enter Japan based on the same public health protocols as Japanese nationals. Please follow the links below to read the full statement (English and Japanese).
