Ski, snow, fun, race, family and friends – The 4th Inter-Chamber Ski Race in Hakuba, Nagano

Registration now open until Monday 21 January.

Networking at a mountain retreat while enjoying a good time with friends, family and business contacts is the promise of the Inter-Chamber Ski Race series. Open also to snowboarders it brings together members of foreign business chambers in Japan, members of the Japanese business community, local top contacts from Nagano and friends of Alpine winter sports.

The event location – Happo-one, Hakuba – is one of the internationally acclaimed ski resorts in Japan and was one of the locations for the Nagano Olympics 1998.

The race in the morning of 26 January is a two-runs, painless giant slalom catering to all levels of skiers. In the last editions we also had a snowboard race, so feel free to apply as a snowboarder.

As the race finishes in the morning, the afternoon is at everyone’s disposal to do skiing, snowboarding, cross-country skiing or enjoying one of the many local hot spas (onsen). The evening award and networking party brings together some 120 to 140 people including race participants, their families and friends and business contacts.

    SMBC Global Seminar
"Thinking of New Investment Opportunities in Australia"

In 2017, Japan and Australia celebrated its 40th anniversary of the Basic Treaty of Friendship and Cooperation, and the relationship is stronger than ever. Japan is Australia's second largest export and third largest import source, and Japanese cumulative investment into Australia is the second largest.

Although the two countries establish this successful relationship, Japanese businesses limits its image of the Australian industry to being only mining and real estate. More than 70% of Australia's GDP is produced from the service sector, and promoting new opportunities as such to Japan are important to lever the business opportunities between the two countries.

This seminar will help attendees that currently consider expanding their business in Australia have an oversight of the potential industries, and representatives from state government will introduce the various investment opportunities a Japanese corporate would need to know.

    Program
Opening remarks from Australian Ambassador to Japan, HE Richard Court AC
Keynote speech from Senior Trade & Investment Commissioner, Brett Cooper

First panel discussion - Each state government representative (New South Wales, Queensland, Victoria, Western Australia, Northern Territory) presents on opportunities in their state.

Second panel discussion - Discussion on industry sectors from an investment perspective: Renewable energy and "clean tech"ICT and creative industries, drug discovery and the testing market, agriculture, Industry-Academia Collaboration.

The event will be conducted in both English and Japanese.
